How do I make my new Sky remote control operate?

Hi Folks

I live in the UK and have had my Sky remote control replaced by a new one. I have put in the required code in order to make it work, as instructed on the small leaflet which came with it, but I cannot turn the tv on or off.

Would anybody be kind enough to suggest a solution for this problem?
